Important Urgent RequestTO: All TBF members; Subject: The White River minimum flow Project What is a minimum flow? Minimum Flow is an environmental restoration project that will return the White River more nearly to its original state. It will guarantee a small amount of water in the river that means an enhanced trout fishery. There is much at stake here and the minimum flow project will be a huge benefit to the state’s tourism business and the nation’s economy. The "plain and simple" definition... MINIMUM WATER FLOW is the need to keep the water cold so the fish do not die. Trout "must" have cold water to survive. With all the generators shut down, there is not enough cold water coming through to stay cold. With the "minimum water flow" there would be a little more (about 6-12 inches more) cold water coming through--enough to keep the trout alive and improve the dissolved oxygen levels in the famed White River. |
